Dr. Carol Todd (caroltodd@caroltodd.com)

Dr. Todd has more than 25 years of experience in public education in Florida as a teacher, professor, charter school board chair and elected member of the Sarasota School Board, a Master Board identified by the Florida School Board Association. Serving her third term on the board Carol has extensive experience and knowledge of public school curriculum and instruction, governance and finance, and the relationship between charter school boards and their district sponsors.

Carol is a BoardSource trained governance consultant. Her work with clients includes governance training, strategic planning, organizational development and program evaluation for nonprofits and educational institutions to help them build and maintain strong governing boards; improve organizational effectiveness; and better effectively and efficiently meet their missions.

Dr. Todd earned a Ph.D. from the College of Education, University of South Florida; a Master’s degree in special education from American University in Washington, DC; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of South Florida.

Nancy Shoemaker (njshoemaker@comcast.net)

Nancy J. Shoemaker is a BoardSource trained consultant and facilitator for nonprofit organizations. She facilitates board retreats and works with individual organizations on complex, nonprofit issues including: legal and fiduciary accountability, strategic planning, board development, fundraising, teamwork and generative thinking.

Before her formal training and work as a consultant, Nancy spent years as a volunteer board member on nonprofit boards and foundations in and around Sarasota, Florida. Most recently, she served for nine years on the United Way Board of Directors of Sarasota County, two of those years as its Chair. Her many years of board service bring a depth of experience and understanding to her consulting work.

Prior to her extensive work with boards, Nancy taught for nine years in the public schools of Chicago’s inner city. She later joined her family’s lumber and building supply business in Sarasota and worked there until it was sold. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College, in Northfield, Minnesota.
